CNC Milling
What Is CNC Milling?
CNC milling is a precision machining process that removes material from a solid blank to form the required or designed shape. Guided by design drawings and executed via pre-programmed machining code, this process is the optimal choice for manufacturing parts with complex features—including angled shapes, slots and channels, chamfers, holes, curves, and slide surfaces. CNC milling offers the advantages of fast material removal, high machining accuracy, and excellent surface finish, ensuring consistent quality across workpieces.
With strong shape flexibility, CNC milling is suitable for both small-batch and large-scale production. Notably, it eliminates the need for mold opening in prototype development, making it a cost-effective and efficient solution for early-stage product validation.

Range of Machinable Materials
CNC milling is applicable to most solid, stable materials. Bomei strictly adheres to material selection standards and evaluates materials based on density, temperature resistance, hardness, and other key properties to formulate optimal machining schemes. Soft or sticky materials are not suitable for CNC milling. Our machinable materials include:
1. Metals
Steel, bronze, stainless steel, aluminum, zinc, titanium, specialty alloys, and industrial heavy metals. For highly hardened materials, we use specialized cutters to ensure effective machining and avoid tool damage.
2. Plastics
Polyethylene (PE), polypropylene (PP), polyvinyl chloride (PVC), thermoplastics, and other engineering plastics.
3. Special Materials
Rubber (Elastomer) and other customized stable materials.
Core CNC Milling Operations
CNC milling operations refer to specialized machining procedures controlled by design requirements and quality standards to ensure precision. The main commonly used methods include:
- Plain Milling: Commonly used for surface machining. The cutter mills the blank surface with its rotational axis parallel to the workpiece surface.
- Face Milling: The cutter features teeth on both the periphery and the tool face, with its rotational axis perpendicular to the workpiece surface, suitable for machining flat end faces.
- Form Milling: Utilizes form cutters or fly cutters, typically used for complex structures requiring multiple milling steps.
In addition to the above, our CNC milling services also cover a full range of supporting machining processes, including broaching, reaming, cutting, sawing, drilling, threading, tapping, grinding, counterboring, and countersinking, providing one-stop machining solutions for complex components.
