Surface Finishing

Surface treatment is mainly to create a visual experience of the appearance of some products. Metal finishing & surface preparation for applications including auto, industrial, medical, automated & more. 
Bomei has been cooperated with stable & efficient subcontractors for surface finishing services, whom combined with over 10 years' industry experience, including anodizing, bluing, electroplating, powder coating, polishing, Nitriding, heat treatment,  vibratory finishing & tumbling, deburring, cleaning & blasting requirements of parts. 

So what’re the Surface Finishing services available at Bomei Machining?

1. Polishing - the use of mechanical, chemical or electrochemical action, the workpiece surface roughness reduction, in order to obtain a bright, flat surface processing method.

Parts have visible CNC Machining processing marks, use of polishing tools and abrasive particles or other polishing media on the workpiece surface modification processing. Suits to mainly metals, such as aluminum, steel, stainless steel, brass, etc.
What’s the function of Polishing?
1. Remove surface scratches and burrs
2. Improve surface roughness(Ra) from 3.2 μm to 1.6, 0.8 and 0.4 μm.

2. Anodizing - uses acid to create a corrosion- and wear-resistant layer on top of a metal. The process of anodizing also changes the crystal structure near the surface of substances, like aluminum alloy, which allows you to dye the metal a bright color. 
Anodized finishes have made aluminum one of the most respected and widely used materials today in the production of thousands of consumer, commercial and industrial products.

1. Improve the durability resistance and of aluminum;
2. Increased corrosion resistance;
3. Meet various color needs and increase gloss
4. Low processing cost.

3. Powder coating - is a surface treatment used to protect metals and other materials against potentially harmful environmental factors. This coating is applied electrostatically as a free-flowing powder and cured under heat or UV light. It can be applied to any material, but it is commonly used on steel, aluminum, and plastic.
What’s the function of Powder coating?
1. Obtain higher resistance and offer greater protections,well-suited for high use and high traffic applications.
2. Tougher and More environmentally-friendly Than Paint.
3. High-Quality Surface Finish.


4. Electroplating - is a process by which very thin layers of a selected metal are bonded to the surface of another metal at the molecular level. 
Common electroplating types including: Zinc plating, Nickel plating, Chrome plating, Gold plating, Silver plating, etc. Suits to mainly metals, such as aluminum, steel, stainless steel, brass, titanium, etc.
What’s the function of Electroplating?
1. Create a protective coating for materials
2. Apply a corrosion-resistant or decorative coating to fasteners, hardware, and other small parts. Various zinc alloy coatings are also electroplated.

5. Nitriding - is a thermochemical treatment process to enrich the surface with nitrogen for the purpose of increasing the surface’s hardness. It is one of the simplest case-hardening processes. 
What’s the function of Nitriding?
1. Obtain high surface hardness, wear resistance and anti galling properties. (Hardness HRC to 62-67 or even 71).
2. Improve fatigue properties.
3. Improve corrosion resistance in atmosphere, water, steam, etc. (except stainless steels).
4. Retains high hardness at high temperatures.
5. Improve high dimensional stability.


6. Sand Blasting - the process of scrubbing the surface of any material by application of a propelling jet of abrasive substances (generally used sand) in order to smoothen or roughen the surfaces by filling layer of it.
What’s the function of Sand Blasting?
1. improve the mechanical properties and fatigue resistance of the workpiece.
2. Increase the adhesion between it and the coating.
3. Remove rusty skin and other dirt from the workpiece surface and establish the base schema.

7. Heat treatment - a metal thermal processing process in which materials are heated, kept warm and cooled in a solid state to obtain the desired structure and properties.
What’s the function of Heat treatment?
1. Improve the mechanical properties like hardness of the material
2. Eliminate residual stresses
3. Improve the machinability of the metal

8. Blueing - is a passivation process in which steel is partially protected against rust, and is named after the blue-black appearance of the resulting protective finish.
What’s the function of Blueing?
1. Prevent corrosion and rust on the workpiece
2. Improve the wear resistance of workpiece.

9. Grinding - is one of different machining processes known as abrasive machining. This process is used to remove irregularities on the surface of the metal by using a grinding wheel.
What's the function of grinding?     
1. Achieve high precision and shape accuracy(reach 0.001-0.005mm).
2. Improve surface roughness needs(reach to Ra0.2-Ra0.4).
3. Improve the wear resistance, corrosion resistance and fatigue strength of workpiece.
